Curriculum vitae

Dr. Fred Hollowood is the Director for Language Technologies Research within Symantec's Shared Engineering Services EMEA group based at the Blanchardstown site in Dublin. He received a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Queens University Belfast in 1975, a doctoral degree (Natural Sciences) followed in 1978 from University College Cork, and latterly an M.Sc. in Information Technology in 1985 from the University of the South Bank (London). His career in localisation commenced in Xerox, Welwyn Garden in 1988 and has held a variety of positions in the industry both on the publisher and vendor side culminating in his appointment to Symantec in 1997. He currently runs a group dedicated to the discovery of novel language technologies for the company. He currently co-supervises one Ph.D. student in the area of Online Communities Management with Trinity College Dublin.
